EHSF's Advocacy Role

EMS leaders in Pennsylvania have long regarded Recognition, Retention, Recruitment, and Reimbursement as “The 4 Rs” of EMS. We can only accomplish the expectations of the “4 Rs” through Relationships. We see our role in our relationship being based primarily on being your advocate. We are frequently asked to speak on your behalf with the public, legislators, and the Government. It is our job to anticipate your needs and work to fulfill them.

It is equally important that we give you as much information as we have to assist you to speak for yourselves. Whether you are visiting your legislator to talk about a Law that impacts you, or you’re talking with the media about an event in your area, the more information you have the more prepared you can be.

Part of the Recognition goal is that others see that we are a system, working together for the good of the lives that are in our care. We also believe that recruitment and retention are impacted by our presentation and making sure that everyone knows how mature and complex our EMS System is. EMS responds to one call every 8 seconds in Pennsylvania. You do it so well that you make it look easy.

To obtain information about our region, visit Regional Statistics. The Legislation page will answer many of your questions regarding current legislation affecting EMS. Read past articles of our Dispatch and find order forms in the EMS Public information page.
