EMS Providers are required to earn continuing education credits to maintain their EMS Certification. There are several ways that an EMS provider may earn continuing education from traditional class room programs to online educational programs. Each level of EMS Providers must earn the following amount of con-ed:
- First Responders – 16 hours in 36 months (8 must be in the medical/trauma category)
- EMT – 24 hours in 36 months (12 must be in the medical/trauma category)
- Paramedic/PHRN – 18 hours in 12 months (9 must be in the medical/trauma category)
All providers must maintain an approved current Health Care Provider CPR card with their Regional EMS Council as identified by the Rules and Regulations.
